Ewing Thomas McMurtry was born in Sumner County, Tennessee, on March 21, 1933 to the late Lawrence and Bessie McMurtry. He was one of six siblings born to this union.
Ewing married Betty Jo Wilson on October 5, 1968, sharing forty-four wonderful years together. They raised five children, some from previous marriages, but you wouldn’t know it. There was always enough love in this home for everyone.
Besides Ewing’s parents; two sons, Tommy McMurtry and L.V. Scoggins, III, and one brother, Ralph McMurtry also preceded him in death.
Ewing was self-employed, working in remodeling and construction as a Dry Waller. For over forty-six years, Ewing put in long hours and during that time, made a lot of friends. He enjoyed getting together with family and friends, playing his guitar and singing. Ewing was a member of the Lafayette Church of God.
On Tuesday, December 4, 2012 the Lord called Ewing home. He will be greatly missed by his family and all those who knew and loved him.
