With the warming weather, work on Macon County’s community mural project is continuing in earnest. The project was funded by a $5,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, and is being officially sponsored by the Macon County Arts Council.

Local artist Linda Johnson is working on the first mural, which will be installed on the Church Street side of Cathy’s Florist on Lafayette square. It is a 12 feet by 16 feet depiction of Union Camp Falls, and it’s nearing completion. Johnson has been working on it as much as possible through the winter months.

With the return of warm weather, local teen volunteers have joined in again to help with the project in its final stages. This same group of volunteers has helped with other MCAC projects, such as Arts in the Park.
