Tennessee Early Childhood Training Alliance (TECTA) is a statewide training system based on the belief that all early childhood education personnel need to acquire the recognized professional knowledge and skills to provide appropriate care and education for young children. This project is funded through a contract with Tennessee’s DHS and Tennessee State University, Center of Excellence For Learning Sciences.

TECTA Orientation is an academic gateway with a curriculum centered on professional core competencies with 30 hours of FREE early childhood education. TECTA Orientation is free to anyone employed in a DHS or DOE licensed program. The Orientations are held for 10 weeks.

For the FALL 2012, there were two TECTA Orientation classes held, taught by Leslie Hamlett in Putnam and Macon Counties. There were participants from Macon, Cumberland, White, Overton, & Putnam Counties.

At the completion of the Orientation, providers will be qualified to continue their professional journey by taking college courses with the support of TECTA, including financially. If you want more information concerning TECTA, please call 1-931-372-6561. Darcey Neyman, MS is the coordinator.
