Westside Elementary School celebrated Read Across America over the course of several days. On Tuesday, Feb. 26, they had a visit from Lisa Spencer, meteorologists with News Channel 4, and on Thursday, Feb. 28. they had a visit from two Titans cheerleaders, columnist/writer Jack McCall, the Channel 4 Snowbird, State Rep. Kelly Kiesling, BOE Boardmember Rebekah Tuttle, and Chamber Coordinator Lori Jones.

The cheerleaders were able to make their appearance at the school courtesy of a Volunteerism Always Pays grant given by Wal-mart to its employees who volunteer their time. After so many hours of volunteer they are allowed to apply for a grant to benefit a school. Tony Fuqua, custodian at Westside, also used his time to help give the kids at Westside some reading encouragement.
