Macon County High School Senior Aaron Carter was just signed on to play football for Bethel University. Carter signed the contract with the college on Wednesday, February 6, in the presence of friend, family, and school representatives.

Bethel’s Assistant Football Coach Marlon Watson said his exact position has not been decided yet.

“Right now we’re up in the air,” said Watson. “He’s a very athletic young man. He will be on the defensive side of the ball, but we don’t know if we want him to play outside linebacker or safety.”

Carter will receive a scholarship to play for Bethel, which is a small liberal arts school in McKenzie, TN with about 1,500 on-campus students.

Carter was contacted by the university and asked for film of his playing, after his name was given through a scout who had seen him play while scouting another player. “He sent us the film, and it was a very quick decision after that,” said Watson. The decision to sign Carter was made a week before the signing actually took place.
