Tigers finish high at Homecoming

Tigers vs. Greenbrier

On Tuesday, January 8th, the Macon County Tigers took on the Greenbrier Bobcats. The Tigerettes had just demolished the Lady Bobcats, and the Bobcats were looking to avenge that loss. The Tigers weren’t going to have it, though! The Tigers ended up beating the Bobcats 54-40. A strong second and foruth quarters helped the Tigers pull away.

The Tigers came out in the first quarter slow, and Greenbrier had a strong first quarter. The Bobcats led 15-11 after one quarter. The second quarter was when the Tigers began to heat up offensively and defenseively. The Tigers came out and scored 16 points and held Greenbrier to eight points. The Tigers shot the three ball good and drove the lane nicely. The score at halftime was 27-23.

In the second half, the Tigers began slowly pulling away. Greenbrier scored 10 points in the third quarter, but the Tigers scored 14. The score after three was 41-33. In the fourth, the Tigers put the nail in the coffin. They scored 13 points in the fourth quarter, all while holding Greenbrier to 7. The final was 54-40 Tigers!

Dalton Shrum led the Tigers in scoring with 13 points. Tyler Clark was right behind him with 12 points. Clark’s 12 points were part of the four of the team’s six three’s. Trey McPherson had 7 points. Peyton Clark had 6, and Aaron Carter had 5.

Tigers vs. Sycamore

The Tigers next game was Homecoming against the dreadful Sycamore Eagles. The Tigers came out and showed the Eagles who’s boss, beating Sycamore 62-33. The Tigers got a lot of offensive rebounds and second chance points in this game.

The first quarter showed that Sycamore couldn’t match up to the Tigers. The Tigers scored 16 points, while holding Sycamore to only 9. The second quarter was a high scoring quarter for both teams, as Macon County scored 19 points. Sycamore scored 13, but most of those came from the free throw line. The score at halftime was 35-22.

The second half was rough for Sycamore. They would score only two points in the third quarter, while Macon County scored 9 points. The score after three was 44-24. In the fourth quarter, Macon County shut down Sycamore on offense and defense. They scored 18 points in the fourth quarter, seven more than Sycamore scored the entire second half. The final was 62-33.

Tyler Clark led the Tigers in scoring in this game, as he had 16 points and three three-pointers. Dalton Shrum had 13 points for the second straight game. Trey McPherson scored 10. Peyton Clark had 5. Evan Perrigo led the bench scorers with 5 points.

The Tigers next games will be Tuesday, January 15th at White House. The Tigers next home game will be Friday, January 18th against Westmoreland. Come out and support your Macon County Tigers!
