A stolen Cadillac was both reported and recovered on Saturday, December 29 in Macon County.

The vehicle was originally reported stolen out of Red Boiling Springs, and its tag and VIN number were entered into the NCIC (National Crime Information Center) database so that all area law enforcement would be on alert. Lafayette police officer Clint Hestand spotted the vehicle Saturday afternoon on Meador Drive in Lafayette. Hestand called in Kimball Hall of the Macon County Sheriff Department.

The officers found Chester Leroy Loudy with the vehicle and arrested him for theft of property (over $1,000 value). Loudy had also apparently unhooked a wire on the car to keep it from starting, according to Hall, so he was additionally charged with vandalism.

Loudy’s court date was set for January 16, 2013, and his bond was set at $5,000.
