Red Boiling Jr. Dawgs lost a bout with Macon County, they were looking to find a team to beat. Who better than Hermitage Springs? The Lady Bulldogs went to battle first and handed Hermitage Springs a loss by the score of 31-14. Although the Lady Dawgs’ offense was a bit slow in this game, their defense prevailed in the end.

The first quarter actually showed the Lady Dawgs losing. Hermitage Springs came out hot and had the lead 7-4 after the first quarter. However, in the second quarter, RBS JH woke up in an impressive way. The Lady Dawgs ended the first half by going on a 13-2 run. The score at the half was 17-9 Red Boiling.

The third quarter was slow for both teams, as RBS JH scored only 4 points. They would, however, hold Hermitage Springs to only 5 points, and the score was 21-14 after the third quarter. The fourth quarter was dominated by the Lady Dawgs. Red Boiling held Hermitage Springs scoreless in the fourth quarter, while the Lady Dawgs themselves put up 10 points. The final score would be 31-14.

Shaynee Ellingson led the Lady Dawgs in scoring with 7 points. Ellingson also had a steal and three offensive rebounds. She also hit one three pointer. Caylee Tuck, another game changer, had a stellar game herself, scoring 6 points, along with her 6 rebounds, one assist, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.

After the girls’ game, it was the boys’ turn to get a little payback. The boys would win their game by a score of 38-26.

The first quarter was a huge quarter for the Bulldogs. They went up on Hermitage Springs 12-4 after the first quarter, and it looked to be over quick. However, Hermitage Springs made a vicious comeback in the second quarter. They scored 10 points, while Red Boiling scored 12 points. The score at halftime was 24-14 Red Boiling leading.

After the first half, the Bulldogs seemed to continue to play hard, but they slowed down a little. They attempted less shots. Red Boiling had 14 combined points in the second half (8 in the third, 6 in the fourth), whereas Hermitage Springs had 12 (6 in each quarter). The final score would be 38-26.

Cusato for Hermitage Springs was a pain in Red Boiling’s side all game. He put up half of the Hermitage Spring’s points, and grabbed 2 steals. However, Red Boiling’s Long put up 13 points as well. It seemed that Long and Cusato had a shootout to see who was better. Long had 5 rebounds, whereas Cusato had 4. However, Cusato 2 steals compared to Long’s one steal. Each player also shot 50% from the field (Long 6-12, Cusato 5-10).

Red Boiling Springs Jr. High Basketball will be taking a break from the action for the holidays. Their next game will be January 3, 2013 at Westmoreland.
