Last Friday, the Macon County Tigers took on Livingston Academy hoping to pick up their first win of the season. It wouldn’t happen this week, as the Tigers fell to Livingston 38-7. The Tigers couldn’t handle Livingston’s running game well.

The game started off with Livingston having the ball. They would score on a 7 yard touchdown run, which capped off an 8 play, 58 yard drive. The game was 7-0 at this point. The Tigers would fight to score, but would come up short at the 9 yard line. Livingston would then get the turnover on downs, and on the first offensive play of that drive, they ran in a 91 yard touchdown, making it 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter wasn’t as bad as the first. The Tigers gave up a 23 yard touchdown run this time, making it 21-0. The Tigers offense got the ball back, but wasn’t able to do anything big with it. Then, with 35 seconds left, Livingston Academy kicked in a 25 yard field goal straight through the uprights, which made the score 24-0 at the half.

The third quarter started out rough for the Tigers. They would get the ball and have a three and out. However, Livingston would block the punt, giving them fantastic field position. They would then run in a 10 yard touchdown, and that made it 31-0.

The Tigers did rally after this, though: after Livingston’s talented kicker kicked the ball out of the endzone for a touchback, the Tigers began a 9 play, 80 yard drive. Aaron Carter ran in the 1 yard touchdown, and Zach Ghazi made the extra point, which put the score at 31-7 at the end of the third.

The fourth quarter was quiet. Livingston would mix it up and pass in a touchdown this time, making it 38-7. The Tigers would get the ball back and start to drive down the field. They would get to the three yard line before time running out on the clock, and the final score was 38-7 Livingston.

The Tigers had only two penalties for ten yards in this game. They had the ball for 27 minutes, 21 seconds. They were 4-14 on third down and 3-3 on fourth down. Aaron Carter went 6-19 passing with 52 yards and 2 interceptions. Carter would also run the ball 15 times for 79 yards and a touchdown. K.J. Kitchens ran the ball 13 times for 80 yards, much of that being a 56 yard run he had. Kitchens also had 2 catches for 9 yards. Dylan Tilley ran the ball 6 times for 12 yards. Daniel Gregory had 2 catches for 17 yards, and Zach Hollis had 1 catch for 14 yards.

The Tigers drop to 0-9 on the season with the loss. Friday, October 26 will be the Tigers final game of the season against Westmoreland. It’s at Pat Parker Field, and it’s Senior Night! The Macon County Times would like to thank all Seniors for playing football for the Macon County Tigers and hope all future endeavors are met with hard work and success! The Tigers need all of the community’s support in their final game! Grab your family and come on out to Pat Parker Field on Friday and watch what is sure to be a great game! Go Tigers!
