The City Council of Red Boiling Springs met in regular session on Thursday night. Items on the agenda were as follows.

The city adopted Ordinance #12-7, setting 2012 tax rate at $1.1609, on second and final reading.

The city adopted Ordinance #12-8, amending city fireworks rules to restrict the days that citizens can shoot their fireworks. Previously, they could be shot 365 days a year—technically—between the hours of 7 AM and 11 PM.

Now there are two periods of time through the year that they can be shot: July 3-5 (same curfew), and December 31 to Jan 2, 2011 (a curfew amendment will be added to the ordinance to allow for midnight and after midnight shootings for New Year’s).

Ordinance #12-9 increased fees for 1” and 2” water taps to allow for increased prices of material, as well as a long standing discrepancy between the city’s costs for installation and the amount that was being charged. The city has been losing money on these installations; the price increases will end this problem.

New prices for inside the city: 1” pipe installation will be $1,000; 2” pipe installation will be $1,500. Outside the city: 1” pipe installation will be $1,500; 2” pipe installation will be $2,500. There will also be a $10 per foot charge to do road bores, when necessary.

An image was also passed around to show brick work for the new city limits sign that are currently under construction, courtesy of Vision 2020.
