Running unopposed in the County General Election, Dewayne Whittemore was voted Thursday, Aug. 5, to County Commission District 18.

Born and raised in Macon County, Whittemore fills the seat being vacated by Grant Malo, who did not seek reelection.

"I grew up and worked on a farm and learned the value of a dollar at an early age," Whittemore previously stated. "Macon County has grown and changed a lot over the past several years but it is still a great place to live and raise a family."

Whittemore has been married to LeAnne Barber Whittemore for 18 years, and the couple has three sons: Chase (10), Logan (7) and Dawson (2).

Whittemore previously stated that he wanted to be a commissioner to help ensure Macon County can grow and continue to be a great place to live, work and raise a family.
