This placed the girls in the losers bracket of the tournament where they proceeded to win their next five games defeating the Spring City All-Stars 10-0, Knoxville Unleashed 11-6, Knoxville Nightmare 10-3, Mt. Juliet Lady Bears 11-1 and then avenged an earlier loss to the Knoxville Rockit be defeating them 7-5 in a very hard fought game.
This win put the Macon County all-Stars in the championship game of the tournameny against the Crieve Hall Katz of Nashville. The Katz came into the championship game undefeated in the tournament. The Macon Co. All-Stars would have to beat the Katz twice to win the championship and the girls had already played five games that day.
The first game of the championship series was as good as of a softball game as you will see on any level. The game featured several outstanding defensive plays by both teams, great pitching and timely hitting. The Macon Co. All-Stars scored two runs in the bottom of the last inning to defeat the Katz 2-1.
Both teams now had one loss which forced a second game in the championship series. The second game again featured more outstanding play from both teams. The Macon Co. All-Stars fell behind 4-1 entering their last at bat and it appeared that the fatigue from playing seven games in one day was finally beginning to take its toll.
The Macon County All-Stars had a little magic left as they scored two runs in the bottom of the last inning and had the tying run crossing home plate when the final out was made in the game. The Crieve Hall Katz won 4-3 to claim the championship, the Macon County All-Stars graciously accepted the second place trophy.
The team consisted of Hannah Smith, Jordan Shockley, Sara Carter, Jenny Weber, Autumn Pedigo, Taylor Dyer, Ashton Swindle, Rachel Bailey, Britney McClard, Paige Clark and McKenzie Hix. The team was coached by Serena Swindle, Anthony Pedigo and Rick Clark.
The girls represented Macon County very well in the tournament.
