He was born in Wilson County, Tennessee on May 27, 1948 to the late Denver Ray and Jessie Mae Jenkins Meador. Besides his parents; one cousin, Ralph Meador, also preceded him in death.
Richard was a veteran serving almost four years in the Navy. After returning home, he went to work for G.E. for a short time, worked for Tennessee Valley Authority for several years and worked for D.T. McCall for ten years. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Lafayette. Richard was an avid gun and knife collector, he also collected Nascar Memorabilia. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. Richard was a loving son who cherished his mother; he visited her every day until her death in March. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by; aunts, Lillie Mae Jenkins, and Martha Carver, cousins, Barry Jenkins, Randy (Debbie) Jenkins, Deneshia (John) Hesson, Bridget (Josh) Boles, Brian Jenkins, Gwendolyn Smith, Mary Hollis Cook, Wilma McMillan, Janice Walrond, Linda Carver, Willa Carr, Brenda Shaw, Thelma Hooper, Patsy McCall, Carolyn, Shirlan, Fred, Roger, Wayne, Dennie, Gordon, Hank, Harold, Nelson, and Ferrell Meador, and a host of extended family; also survive.
