This past Saturday, we had 131 kids to sign up for flag, tackle or cheerleading. This is a good start for this year’s season. I know that everyone is still involved with baseball or softball or possibly even soccer, but before you know it, football season will be right here on top of us. All of our practices will not begin until the first week of August.
On a personal note: From the league as a whole, we would like to welcome the new football coach at MCHS, Coach Mark Pemberton. By speaking with him this past week during a brief conversation, he seems to be looking forward to working with our youth program. He also stated that the youth program is where all good programs start from. Also, the week of July 12, he will be giving a coach’s clinic for all of our league’s coaches and he will also be directing the peewee camp to benefit the Tigers program. This camp will be held on Thursday July 15, Friday July 16 and Saturday July 17. I feel that by working close with the junior high and high school programs at MCHS and RBS, all of our football programs will be more competitive and successful.
There will be more football and cheerleading news next week.
