County showcased at National Tourism Week reception

Ruth Dyal, Executive Director, Upper Cumberland Tourism, invited Macon County to participate with her in this recognition at the Mitchellville I65 Welcome Center Tuesday, May 11. This center is currently housed in White House while new facilities are being built.

The Macon County representatives attending with Ruth Dyal were Lona Vinson, Executive Secretary , Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, Rita Watson, member of 20/20 Vision in Red Boiling Springs, and Patty Petty, Member of the Three Star Committee.

The Mitchellville Center’s manager, Sherry Prochaska, is expecting to be back in Mitchellville in a new building in the original location in September 2010.

Macon County was showcased to the incoming visitors during this reception. Several expressed a desire to some day come for a visit.

Tennessee tourism generates $l4.4 billion in economic impact. Tourism employment in Tennessee provides more than 180,00 jobs and welcomes more than 50 million visitors annually.
