“The purpose of the meeting is to be brought up-to-date on how the flood has affected our utilities, parks, and all other assets; all department heads be present with a dept. up-date; and allow Senator Mae Beavers and Representative Terri Lynn Weaver to speak on getting help for us,” the two councilmen wrote in requesting the special called meeting.
The request was signed by both Cook and T. Newberry.
RBS Assistant Police Chief Doug McDonald, also on Tuesday, went to the other four councilmen and RBS Mayor Kenneth Hollis to serve appropriate notice for the meeting.
Hollis and Councilmen Willie Brown, Billy Joe Carver, Bobby Etheridge and Steve Newberry all refused the meeting.
Citing the RBS City Charter, Cook said earlier this afternoon that the meeting will proceed as planned at RBS City Hall, as at least two councilmen will be present.
An agenda sent from the City of RBS reads as follows:
Call Meeting to Order
Roll Call
Up-date on how flood has affected our utilities, parks, and all city assets
Up-date from department heads on damages in each department
Senator Mae Beavers and Representative Terri Lynn Weaver will speak on getting help for the city
