A Red Boiling Springs man was charged Monday afternoon with driving on a suspended license and due care after crashing his vehicle into a tree on McClure Street inside RBS city limits.

Danny Williams, 41, was driving his blue 2002 Ford TSS four-door north on McClure when he said a deer ran out in front of his vehicle, according to a RBS police report. Williams said he tried to avoid the deer and, in the process, lost control and made contact with a tree.

His vehicle was traveling less than 25 miles per hour at the time of the crash, which was forceful enough to deploy the airbag, the report said.

“After I asked dispatch to check Mr. Williams’ license, they came back suspended,” RBS Assistant Police Chief Doug McDonald wrote in the report. “So Mr. Williams was then placed under arrest for driving on a suspended license and due care.”

The accident occurred an estimated 150 feet from Factory Street.
