There's a new doctor in town.

Emily Lough is establishing a full-time optometry practice at the Lafayette Wal-Mart.

Lough's experience is strong.

For the past three years she has been a practicing optometrist at the Gallatin and Lebanon Wal-Mart Vision Centers, but is seizing on the opportunity to come to Macon County.

“I am very excited and thankful to be establishing my own full-time practice at the Lafayette Wal-Mart Vision Center,” she said.

Lough is originally from Lebanon and graduated from Lebanon High School. She went on to Libscomb University in Nashville, eventually graduating from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis.

Lough has been married to Scott Lough for three years and the couple currently live in Lebanon. Scott is also a graduate of Libscomb University and works for the Metro/Nashville Public Health Department.

Lough is a member of the Lebanon Sunrise Rotary Club and is active in a number of community service projects. Active in the church, Lough and her husband will be attending a mission trip to El Salvador for the third year in a row. There, they will help local churches with their Vacation Bible School programs.

While there, Lough will also provide free eye exams to the adults and children attending Vacation Bible School.

While the couple have no children, Lough said, “We are the proud parents of a rambunctious Boston Terrier named Maverick.”

The Wal-Mart Vision Center is located inside the store and can be reached by calling 666-9696.
