Traffic flow on Highway 10 returned to normal shortly before 7 o’clock Friday night.
A one-vehicle accident earlier in the afternoon forced local officials to halt much of the traffic.
From about 4:40 p.m. until 6:39 p.m. the Lafayette Police Department diverted all traffic from traveling down Highway 10 from the four-way stop at Highways 10 and 52.
Angela Carr, 36, of Lafayette, was driving along Highway 10 towards Lafayette and, at approximately 4:40, lost control of the 2002 Pontiac Sunfire she was driving.
The vehicle went off the westbound side, striking a utility pole, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol Sgt. Ashley Mercer, who investigated the accident.
Gary McCormick, age unknown, was a passenger in the vehicle.
Neither Carr nor McCormick was believed to be seriously injured, Mercer said.
Meanwhile, a Tri-County crew worked to replace the utility pole struck by Carr’s vehicle.
LPD lifted the roadblock at the four-way stop at 6:39 p.m. after receiving the go-ahead from Tri-County officials, and traffic returned to normal.
