The Annual Macon County Boy Scout Breakfast hosted by Citizens Bank will be held on March 31 at 7 a.m. at the Sally Wells Building, Macon County Fair Grounds.

The keynote speakers this year are George Plaster and Eagle Scout Griffin Williston.

George Plaster is the popular host of The Sports Zone, a daily afternoon sports talk radio program broadcasting on 104.5 The Zone. Plaster has hosted the show since shortly after its 2003 inception, and for ten years prior, hosted SportsNight, a similar program on WWTN-FM. Plaster also hosts The State Auto SportsZone, a weekly television show that airs on Sunday nights from August to May on WZTV. Plaster has earned many awards in his career including being named to the inaugural Talkers Magazine "Talkers 250" list, highlighting the 250 most influential talk radio hosts in America.

Griffin Williston is the son of Pete and Martha Williston of Lafayette. He is an Eagle Scout and member of Troop 405 in Lafayette, having earned the Eagle rank in 2009. Griffin will graduate third in his class from Macon County High School in May. His future plans are to attend the University of Mississippi, where he has been accepted into the Honors College, and to major in biochemistry. After obtaining his bachelors degree, Griffin intends to enter medical school with the dream of becoming a cosmetic and reconstructive surgeon.

Guests to the Breakfast are in for a real treat as these gentlemen share their stories of motivation and determination. We are glad that Mr. Plaster is traveling to Macon County to speak to guests at our event.

Walton Trail has served over 1200 youth in 2009 through a variety of programs including Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturing and Exploring. Macon County is the home of 3 Cub Scout Packs, 2 Boy Scout Troops, an Exploring Post, and a co-ed Venture Crew. From camping, fun activities, and civic service projects, the youth in Macon County have greatly benefited from Scouting. Help us to continue! Funds raised from the Breakfast go to help improve Scouting in Macon and surrounding counties.

Persons wishing to attend the event may request an invitation by calling Lindsey Sublett at 615-305-8278 or lsublett@mtcbsa.org or contact Pete Williston, Chairman of the event, at 615-666-8209.
