The Alpha Gamma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, a society for professional women educators, held its first meeting of the New Year at Macon County High School on Tuesday, March 9. President Sandra Smith presided, and Cynthia Hudson sang “We Have This Moment,” which was very inspiring.

Linda McCrary gave a detailed explanation of Online Leadership and Delta Kappa Gamma’s website. Carolyn Winn presented the treasurer’s report. The recruitment grant fund was discussed at length. Further study will be done by the committee.

Having attended the Legislative Symposium in February, McCrary gave an update on what to expect from the legislature.

Kindergarten orientation and registration is an important project for Alpha Gamma, and plans for that, which will be held in April, were formulated with details to be given in the local papers.

Wynona Clayborne was presented a red rose for the member of the month.

Members attending the meeting in addition to those previously mentioned were: Leslie Goad, Doris Wheeley, Margaret Cook, Angela Marshall, Andrea Flynn, Carroll Gunter, Nancey Green, Georgia Ann Boles, Jayne Watson, Mel Perdue and Marion Casady.

The hostess group, Teresa Gregory, Annette Cothron, Marylin Roberts, Donna McCrary, Beverly Reid and Erica Woodard used the St. Patrick’s Day theme for decorations and delicious refreshments.

After singing the Delta Kappa Gamma song, the meeting was adjourned.
