Travis Blankenship, age 74 of Lafayette, TN and the Rocky Mound Community, died on January 26, 2010 at the Saint Thomas Hospital. Funeral services for Travis Blankenship were conducted Friday, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Reverend James Wheeler officiating. Interment followed in the Haysville Cemetery.

He was born on August 13, 1935 in Macon County, Tennessee, to his parents; the late Dewey Galen and Hattie Belle Swindle Blankenship.

He was married earlier in life to the mother of his children, Bonnie Cates; he later married Viola Blankenship, who preceded him in death on May 15, 2001. Besides his second wife and parents; son, Anthony Blankenship, great-grandson, Dylan Blankenship, sisters, Velcola Rueleen Blankenship, and Velma Lois Blankenship, also preceded him in death.

Travis was a farmer all his life, milking cows, and raising tobacco crops, until he retired. His past time was going where his boys build barns, sitting for hours just watching them work; they didn’t build a barn that he didn’t see go up. They would always laugh and say “There comes the boss, get to work”. Travis enjoyed watching wrestling on TV, eating Krystals, and riding the carts at Wal-Mart. He was full of life and fun, a very caring and loving father and grandfather, who cherished his time with his family. Travis attended Old Liberty House of Prayer. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Travis is lovingly survived by; daughters, Wanda Love of Pensacola, FL, and Annette and husband Darrell Taylor of Westmoreland, TN, step-daughter, Dorothy Faye and husband Roger Andrews of Westmoreland, TN, sons, David and wife Judy Blankenship of Bowling Green, KY, James and wife Karen Blankenship, and

Timmy and wife Penny Blankenship all of Lafayette, TN, brother, Truman and wife Wilma Blankenship of Bowling Green, KY, sister, Jewel Sadler of Lafayette, TN, mother of children, Bonnie Cates of Lafayette, TN, close and dear loving friend,

Flossie Haddock of Lafayette, TN, seventeen grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, also survive. Alexander Funeral Home, Directors, were in charge of arrangements.
