This pilot program will allow TVA to monitor the effectiveness of different methods in encouraging consumers to reduce their electric consumption.
“TVA Distributors, including Tri-County Electric, have been notified that TVA intends to move from an energy usage rate to a demand and energy rate as early as this fall,” said Paul Thompson, Tri-County Electric vice president and general manager. “The Demand Response Pilot will allow Tri-County Electric to evaluate both an in home display unit and a demand reduction unit for effectiveness, convenience and cost savings to our member-owners while reducing residential demand.”
If you are interested in participating in the pilot, you must meet the following criteria:
• Tri-County Electric residential member-owner
• Single family dwelling
• Home has an electric heat pump (one, not multiple)
• Home has an electric water heater
Participants will be divided into two groups. The “informed” group will have an in-home display device with information on usage and rates, while the “enabled” group will have a Demand Reduction Unit installed at their home along with the in-home display device. Both groups will be required to complete a survey and those selected for participation will receive a small financial incentive and an energy conservation kit.
