HS basketball: Tigers win first game of tournament

The Macon County High School boys' basketball team won its opening game Monday afternoon in the Nera White Tournament.

The Tigers beat Jackson County 66-49 at Macon County.

Macon County led 19-11 at the end of the first quarter, 33-20 at the half and 53-42 entering the fourth quarter.

Zack Billenstien scored a team-high 18 points for Macon County. Andrew Evetts and Chris Wooten scored 12 points apiece for the Tigers (7-6).

Also scoring for Macon County were Cody Boone (6 points), Terry Key (4 points), Dallas Grace (9 points), Tyler Manning (3 points) and Brantley Russell (2 points).
