Once again this year we had over 300 kids that were involved in our league. I want to take this time to thank all the parents that allowed their child to play or cheer in the league this season. I hope that each and every one of them had a great experience and learned something that they will take with them through the rest of their life. The weather proved to be our worst enemy this year as we had to cancel several Saturdays and reschedule them. This was the worst year that we have had since I have been involved with this league for the last 14 years. I do want to say that every child that played or cheered and made all those practices throughout the year are all winners for sticking with it.

I want to announce that our 6th grade blue team is perhaps one of the strongest teams that we’ve had since our league was established. They were well coached, disciplined and the players had a lot of talent. We won our 4th area championship in the Tobacco Bowl at Hartsville with wins over Westmoreland and Trousdale Co. We also won the 4th annual Jr. Industrial Bowl here at home with a big win over a 7-1 Pickett Co. team. Then we finished the year out with our 3rd TN-KY Border War championship at the 18th annual Patriot Bowl in Scottsville with wins over Westmoreland and Allen Co., KY. Our 9 & 10 year old blue team also participated in the 18th annual Patriot Bowl and came away with a championship with wins over Westmoreland and Allen Co.

I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped in our league in any way this year. Thanks to all the cheerleading and football coaches for a job well done and for volunteering so much time to the league. I also want to thank the Epsilon Chi sorority for keeping our concession stand as they have done a wonderful job as usual. I want to thank all of the flag referees for their time which include Tim Austin, Matt “Slick” Austin, Jeremy Phillips, David Phillips, Derrick Jenkins, Nick Willson, and Alex Bilbrey. Thanks also to Julie Willson, Duaune Willson, Nick Willson and Alex Bilbrey for keeping the front gate for us and also to my big buddy, Tony “Cheesy” Gregory for setting the field up, cleaning up afterwards and for whatever I asked him to do along with Frank Nardick. Thanks to Derrick Jenkins, Darrel Robertson, and Duane Willson for helping stripe the field off when it was needed for our games. Thanks to Jeremy Phillips for announcing and also Joseph Cross for filling in when needed at the announcers position. I hope that I haven’t left anyone out but if I have I apologize and please know that everything was greatly appreciated. We are looking forward to an even bigger and better year next year and want to see everyone again next season. I want to leave everyone on this final note – this program is for the kids that are involved and is supposed to be a building block for the next levels of our football and cheerleading programs here in this community.
