100th Anniversary Celebration

Martin’s Chapel General Baptist Church at 112 Old Martin’s Chapel Road in Portland, TN will have a 100th Anniversary Celebration on Sunday, December 6th. Sunday school at 10:00, Worship at 11:00. Lunch to follow. In the afternoon about 1:30, a history of the church will be shared.

Christmas Home Tour

The Trousdale County FCE Christmas Home Tour will be December 10, 2009 at 5:30 PM. The cost is $10 (ages 8 and up). Call Trousdale Co. Extension for tickets 615-374-2421. Refreshments will be served from 5:00 - 5:30 PM at People’s State Bank. Tour of five homes begins at 5:30 PM. School buses will be provided. Five homes and the Living History Museum will be toured.

Offices Closed for Holiday

County Government Offices in Macon County will be closed on Thursday, November 26th and Friday, November 27th for Thanksgiving.

The L. B. J. & C. Development Corporation Head Start Central Office and Head Start Centers will be closed November 26 and 27, 2009 in observance of Thanksgiving.

Macon County Public Library and Red Boiling Springs Branch Library will be closed for Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday, November 26 and 27.

Open House

Grandpa’s House in Red Boiling Springs announces its annual Open House and Storytelling, Saturday, December 12, 2009, 10 am to 4 pm. National Storyteller Karen Davis will be on hand to share stories of Christmas Past, Future and Present. Bring your own story to share. Enjoy homemade hot cocoa and cookies. This is a free event. The monthly meeting of the L. B. J. & C. Head Start Policy Council has been scheduled for Tuesday, December 1, 2009 beginning at 6:00 PM. The meeting will be held at the L. B. J. & C. Development Corporation, 1150 Chocolate Drive, Cookeville, TN.

Christmas Dinner

The Macon County Democratic Party will hold its annual Christmas Dinner on Friday, December 11, 2009 at 6:00 PM at the Armour Hotel in Red Boiling Springs, TN. All Democrats and other interested persons are urged to attend. Please notify George McCrary at 699-2705 by Dec. 5 if you plan to attend. Cost will be $15.00 per person. Invited guests are Sen. Jim Kyle, Sen. Roy Herron, and Ward Cammack, Democratic candidates for Governor. Please bring non perishable items for Christmas Food Drive.

Meeting

There will be a meeting at the Macon County Board of Education on November 30, 2009 at 3:30 PM at the Board of Education Meeting Room to discuss services available through the special education department for home school students. These services are funded through IDEA and ARRA. Please call 666-2125 if you have any questions.
