The Macon County School System recently purchased a 2008 handicap bus to add to their fleet of buses. This bus has been thoroughly refurbished to meet all state and federal regulations, and the bus can be used by the system for 7 more years. The new price for a new bus of this kind is $69,000, but the school system only paid $39,500, and the bus comes with a 90-day bumper-to-bumper warranty.

“This is an effort by the school system to reduce costs and still provide safe transportation for our students,” stated Larry Holland, Transportation Supervisor. Director of Schools Margaret Oldham said, “we understand the importance of transporting our students safely but we also understand the need to be fiscally responsible. We think that this is an effort to achieve both.”
