Tigers beat White House at Districts, fall at Regions

Tigers vs. White House

Last Tuesday, the Macon County Tigers did battle against district rival White House. The Tigers dominated offensively and went on to win the game by a score of 71-54. The Tigers couldn’t stop scoring.

The first quarter was the Tigers’ best quarter of the night. Macon County put up twenty-four points in the first quarter, while holding White House to only seven. The second quarter was a little closer, but the Tigers still had the lead. The Tigers put up eighteen points in the second quarter. White House scored thirteen. The score at halftime was Macon county 42, White House 20.

The second half was more of the same for Macon County. The Tigers scored fifteen points in the third quarter, and White House scored ten. The score after three quarters of play was 59-30. Macon County had the game clinched. The fourth quarter actually showed White House attempting to make a comeback, as they put up twenty-four points. However, Macon County scored fourteen points, enough to keep them ahead and to win the game 71-54.

Tyler Clark led the Tigers in scoring with 21 points. Trey McPherson wasn’t far behind him with 19. Aaron Carter had ten points. Daniel Gregory had six, Dalton Shrum had five, Justin Tucker had four, and Dillion McCormick had three.

Tigers vs. East Nashville Magnet

The Tigers’ next game was at Regions against the East Nashville Magnet School Eagles. The Eagles came out and almost put up triple digits against the Tigers. They scored more points on the Tigers than anyone else has in almost twenty years. The final score was East Nashville 95, Macon County 65. The Tigers’ defense couldn’t keep up with the speed of East Nashville’s offense.

The first half was all East Nashville. The Eagles put up an insane thirty points in the first quarter. Macon County would only score fourteen. The second quarter was more of the same. The Eagles would score twenty-four points in the second quarter. Macon County would score fourteen points again. The score at halftime was 54-28.

The second half was more of the same for the Tigers. Both teams would score sixteen points in the third quarter. However, in the fourth quarter, East Nashville scored twenty-five points. Macon County scored twenty-one. All in all, Macon County had a strong offensive game. However, East Nashville has one of the best offensive teams in the state. The final score was 95-65.

Trey McPherson scored 19 points in the game, which led the Tigers. Dalton Shrum and Tyler Clark each had eleven points. Justin Tucker had 4 points. Clay Carnahan and Tyler Carlisle made their Macon County High School debut in this game. Carnahan scored six points, and Carlisle scored two points.
