The 2012-2013 season ended abruptly for the Red Boiling Springs Basketball program when they traveled to hosting Trousdale County to open District 8A tournament play on February 12, 2013. The girls were set to play the Watertown Tigerettes while the boys faced Friendship Christian Commanders in back and forth, high intensity games. The 8A District tournament was a single elimination style tournament, and unfortunately, both teams saw their seasons come to a close as they were both eliminated in the first round.

With the possibility of this being their last game, the Lady Bulldogs nerves were on edge. Those nerves were put on hold at the start of this game. Being down by 3 at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Bulldogs knew they had to step it up if they wanted to advance in the tournament. They did step it up in the second quarter outscoring their competition by 4 points putting the Lady Bulldogs ahead at half by 2 points. The Watertown Tigerettes decided they were done being behind. In the third quarter the Tigerettes went on top of the Lady Bulldogs 28 to 26. The fourth quarter left both teams scrambling to try to stay ahead so they could advance to the next round. This quarter was the best offensive quarter for both teams with the Tigerettes scoring 26 points. The Lady Bulldogs scored a total of 19 points in the fourth quarter but that left them short 9 points of their dream on advancing in the 8A district tournament. For their final game the Lady Bulldogs attempted 36 two point shots, making 12, for 33.3% accuracy. Attempting 16 three point baskets, the Lady Bulldogs hit 5 for 31.2% shooting accuracy from the three point line. They went to the free throw line 14 times, making 6, for 42.9% at the line. And closing out their senior year was #50 Kalisha Lynch with an incredible 20 points and #40 Katie Hix with 8 points. Lynch also had 2 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Hix also had an unbelievable 13 rebounds and 4 steals.

The boys’ team played the night cap Tuesday night. The Bulldogs had one final chance to do something they hadn’t all season long – win a game. They knew if they didn’t pull off a victory in the first round it would all be over. The Bulldogs came out strong and held their own against the Friendship Commanders. The drive and determination the Bulldogs had was an indication of how badly they wanted the win. As with the girls game the boys game was tight with the Bulldogs down by 2 after the first quarter (oddly enough that was the same score in the RBS girls game that was played right before the boys) and down by 3 at the half 20 to 23. With crowd anticipation high for the Bulldogs, the boys’ kept their drive alive. With the final few seconds ticking away in the third quarter, the Bulldogs found themselves down by 6 points but that was before Sophomore Skyler Holden got the ball. Holden busted a three point basket at the buzzer putting the Bulldogs down by 3 once again. Going in the fourth quarter, it seemed as if the Bulldogs had a shot at their first victory. However, the Bulldogs were not able to gain one last edge on the Commanders as they would lose their last, of 31 total games, by 9 measly points. This left another coincidence as the RBS Lady Bulldogs lost their chance at advancing by 9 points. The final score is not really indicative of how well the RBS Bulldogs played. The Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs gave their all this basketball season. Players who have never experienced these kinds of losses can never understand just how much all of that hurts. The Bulldogs gave themselves completely to something, and, unfortunately, it didn’t turn out the way they wanted. The RBS Bulldogs are a young team whom should see great things next season as they continue to grow and push themselves toward success. During the Bulldogs final game of the 2012-2013 season in the District tournament, they attempted only 12 two point shots, making 4, for 33.3%. The three point range saw the Bulldogs attempting 15 shots, hitting 7, for 46.7% accuracy from the three point line. The Bulldogs went to the foul line 16 times. They made 14 of those for an incredible 87.5% accuracy from the foul line. During the game, the Bulldogs, as a team, had only 9 turnovers. Getting their name in the books for the last time were:
