It was Senior Night Friday evening, February 8, for the Red Boiling Springs Basketball team. As is the tradition for RBS High School, as well as many other high schools, the seniors on the team were honored, along with their parents, after playing the team’s last home game of the season and the seniors’ last home game of their high school basketball careers.
It was an emotional night, not only for two players, but for the coaches, parents, teammates, and school as a whole. Kalisha Lynch and Katie Hix were the two seniors honored.
Kalisha is the daughter of Scottie and Tina Perdue and Kevin and Jessica Lynch. She is an honor student ranking 14th in her senior class. She was named 2013 RBS Sweetheart and 2013 Most Athletic. She played 2 years of softball, as well as 4 years of basketball. She also received the Hustle Award in 2010-2011, Most Assist award in 2011-2012, and was named to the All District Regular Season 2nd team in 2012-2013. Kalisha’s basketball career total include 533 total points, 49 three point baskets, made 148 of 215 attempted free throws for 69% accuracy, 255 rebounds, 109 steals, 155 assists, and was a 2 year starter.
Katie Hix is the daughter of Jeff and Kim Hix. Katie is an honor student and ranked number 3 in her class. She received the 2013 Citizenship Award. Katie received many awards during her career including 2010-2011 Basketball Team Leading Rebounder, 2011-2012 Basketball District 8A All District Regular Season 2nd team, 2011-2012 Basketball 8A All Tournament, 2011-2012 Basketball Team Leading Rebounder, 2011-2012 Basketball Team Top Defensive Player, 2011-2012 Basketball Team Leader in Steals, and 2012-2013 All Tournament J.P. II Invitational Tournament. Katie’s basketball career totals include 637 total points, 232 free throws made of 395 attempted for 59% accuracy, 622 rebounds, 126 steals, 47 assists, and was a 2 year starter. Three years of her career makes her the 6th leading rebounder of all time at Red Boiling Springs High School.
Together, Katie and Kalisha accomplished the District 8A Championship, Runner-up in the Region, and Sub-State in 2009 through 2012. In 2010-2011 they were the Caveland Classic Champions, District 8A Regular Season and Tournament Champions, Region 4A Runner-ups, Sub-State Champions, and TSSAA Elite 8 State Tournament participants. In 2011-2012 they were District 8A 3rd place winners, Region 4A 1st round participants, and had an overall career record of 75 wins and 57 losses. The Red Boiling Springs High School Basketball program would like to thank Katie and Kalisha for their leadership, positive attitude, work ethic and for being a huge part of Lady Bulldogs basketball this year. They will be greatly missed.
