On January 28th, the MCJH Tigerettes finished their basketball season with a loss to Sparta Warriorettes in the Championship game of the James C. Haile State Invitational Tournament.
The opening tip went to Macon and the first points of the game came from Paige Clark with a one-in-one at the free throw line. Timeout was taken with 2:17 to go in the first quarter with the score only 2 to 6.
When play resumed White Co. attempted to score but Luci Allen rejected the shot. Three more points were added to Macon’s score due to a layup and foul shot from Clark. At the end of the first quarter the score was Macon 5 and White Co. 10.
The Tigerettes struggled to score in the next period and the Warriorettes were able to capitalize on their difficulty. Going into halftime, Macon was down 7 to 23. It was not the game the Tigerettes or fans had hoped for. It was an off night for a normally terrific group of ball players. By the end of the game all of the Tigerettes saw playing time.
The final score was 14 to 41. Scoring for the Tigerettes were Paige Clark with 7 pts., Kendall Bullington and Kammie Yates both had 3 pts., and Luci Allen has 1 pt.
Macon County Jr. High Girls ended their season with a 13-6 record. They were Cumberland Rim Conference Tournament Champions and James C. Haile Tournament Runner-Ups.
