A man was transported to the hospital with facial, back, and neck injuries after a tobacco truck struck his vehicle from behind on Tuesday morning. THP Trooper Ed Crouch said that the driver of the pickup was driving south on Highway 10 from Lafayette, pulling a tobacco trailer, when he tried to hit his breaks and found that they were out.
“He actually passed a few vehicles, because he couldn’t stop,” said Crouch, “and then he ended up having to decide between hitting the car that was coming at him and hitting the car in his own lane.” Oscar Dominguez, 35, chose the latter; he struck a pickup truck driven by Darrell Baker, 53.
Baker’s truck was knocked over the side of the road, and the tobacco trailer wedged itself on the incline, spilling bales of tobacco.
Baker’s one passenger, Dennis Stafford of Gallatin, was transported to the hospital bleeding from the face, with complaints of neck and back pain. The accident occurred at about 9:30 AM.

In another injury wreck on Friday evening in Lafayette, a man flipped his car on Galen Road and had to be extracted from beneath the vehicle. James Boyd of Lafayette was transported to MCGH with non-life-threatening injuries. Boyd, 39, has been charged by THP with driving under the influence, driving without insurance, driving without a seat belt, and failure to exercise due care.
