Homeowners in Lafayette were the victims of a drive-by BB gun shooting on Sunday night at around 10:00 p.m. The Sanders, a senior-age couple living at 1396 Trent Road, were sitting in their living room with two other family members, watching TV, when four shots were fired at the two front windows of their home, making two holes in the outer layer of glass in each window.
Deputy Shockley of the Macon County Sheriff Department, who wrote the incident report, said that the BB then hit the inside layer of window glass and bounced, and a vehicle with a loud exhaust was heard leaving just afterward. “They thought it was hail hitting the glass and looked up, and the windows had holes in them.”
Neighbors said that the car they saw briefly was small, and that they’d also heard a loud exhaust, but they could not identify color. Shockley said that it sounded like some kind of prankster incident.
