Ben Bray Real Estate and Auction is hosting their 3rd annual St. Jude Charity Auction this Saturday, January 12. The event will be at the Macon County Fairgrounds in the Sally Wells Building at 10 AM, and will feature lots of items for bidding, concessions, a climate-controlled environment, and a good cause.

The auction supports the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which is located in Memphis, Tennessee, and is on the forefront of pediatric cancer research and treatment. The hospital is known to employ only the best and brightest in the medical field, and treats over 7,500 patients every year, whether or not they can afford to pay. It also provides housing near the hospital for the families of children who are in treatment. St. Jude has developed protocols that have helped push overall survival rates for childhood cancers from less than 20 percent when the hospital opened in 1962 to 80 percent today.

All the money raised in this auction event will be donated directly to St. Jude.

“About three years ago, myself along with some of my co-workers began to look for something that we could do to make a difference in the life of someone in need,” said company owner Ben Bray. “The majority of us have children or grandchildren and as all of us know, they each of them hold a very special place in our lives…”

The group settled on St. Jude, which has treated children out of Macon County in the past. The auction has been very successful so far. “Each year we’ve done just a hair over $20,000,” said Ben Bray.

Donations can be made at their office location at 672 Highway 52 Bypass West in Lafayette, or call 615-666-2232 for pickup.

“Remember this,” said Bray. “It’s not about us, it’s about the children of St. Jude.”
