The Red Boiling Springs High School Service Learning class hosted a Winterfest on Saturday, December 1, 2012 in the Red Boiling Springs cafeteria. The fest included a chili/vegetable supper, cakewalk, silent auction, live auction, and face painting.

Organizers were able to obtain some great items for the fest, including a signed Jason Aldean poster and CD, 4 one-day pass hoppers to Disney World, signed memorabilia from the Tennessee Titans and the Nashville Predators, Dollywood tickets, and several donations and gift certificates from local businesses and individuals.

By the night’s end, the festival had generated over $2,000. The proceeds are going toward the Brandon Tidwell Memorial to purchase a headstone for Brandon. Brandon Tidwell was a Red Boiling Springs High School student and football player who lost his life on June 7th, 2010, due to tragic circumstances involving an accidental shooting.

Tidwell, who was 15-years-old at the time of his death, would have been a senior this year. The class also plans to purchase Christmas presents for children in the RBS community, as well as, fruit baskets for the elderly. The Red Boiling Springs Service Learning class would like to personally thank everyone involved in this wonderful fundraiser. Without their support this event would not have been possible.
