The Red Boiling Springs 5th and 6th grade basketball teams continued their 2012-2013 season this past Saturday, November 10, playing their second game of the season against the Yellow Jackets of Trousdale County.

The first quarter started with both teams struggling offensively. Neither team seemed to be able to score a basketball. The first quarter ended with a score of 2 to 0 with the RBS Lady Bulldogs leading the Lady Jackets. With the start of the second quarter, the momentum of the game shifted to the Lady Bulldogs. They were able to outscore their opponents by eight points making the score at halftime RBS Lady Bulldogs 10 and the Lady Jackets 0. Third quarter play was once again slow, especially for the Lady Jackets. The Lady Bulldogs defense kept the Lady Jackets from finding the basket.

Once the third quarter buzzard went off, the Lady Jackets remained at 0 for the game while the Lady Bulldogs managed to score 4 in the third quarter making the score 14 to 0. During the fourth and final quarter of the game, the Lady Jackets were finally able to put a few points on the board making two 2-pointers but that wasn’t a match for the Lady Bulldogs four 2-pointers in the fourth. Once the game ended, the Lady Bulldogs pulled off their first victory with a final score of 22 to 4. Scoring for the Lady Bulldogs was: #12 Kameron Clark with 6, #44 Keelan Arnett with 4, #13 Haley Davis with 4, #00 Kennedy Fleming with 6, and #21 Chloe Kramer with 2. The RBS Lady Bulldogs record stands at 1-1.

Coming off of a loss last week, the young RBS Bulldogs were looking to change that as they faced the Yellow Jackets. The Bulldogs started out great with getting the tipoff and scoring the first basket of the game. The Bulldogs looked great during the early minutes of the game, but the momentum of the game changed rapidly. The team’s chemistry seemed to fizzle quickly. The Bulldogs were plagued with turnover after turnover. Their offense was not able withstand the offense of the Yellow Jackets. The Bulldogs just couldn’t seem to score, although, it wasn’t a lack of shooting the ball. The game ended with the Trousdale Yellow Jackets defeating the RBS Bulldogs by thirty points making the score 42 to 12. Individual scoring for the Bulldogs was Jacob Atkins with 2, Austin Smith with 4, Matthew Murphy with 2, Mason Hix with 2, and Keaton Comer rounding out the score with 2. The RBS Bulldogs record stands at 0-2 for the season.

The RBS Lady Bulldogs’ and Bulldogs’ next game will be Saturday, November 17, a home game at RBS. Game time is at 9:30.
