Mr. Bobby Wood age 80 of Fox Run in Lafayette died at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday afternoon October 30, 2012 at the Sumner Regional Medical Center in Nashville where he was being treated for kidney failure.

Funeral services from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home were conducted by Eld. Jeff Patterson on Friday afternoon November 2nd.Burial followed the 1 p.m. service in the Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens.

The third of four children and the last surviving child of the late Walter Bransford (Bub) Wood and Lake Ontario (Teen) Richardson Wood, he was born Bobby Clay Wood in the Wartrace Creek Community of Jackson County on January 11, 1932.

Siblings preceding him in death were Roy and Sam Wood and Shelby Wood Willis.

Mr. Wood was united in marriage to Defeated Creek Community native, the former Doris Jean Swann, at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Bobby Hugh McCall on December 22, 1936. Bro. Harold Dean Ray performed the marriage ceremony.

Mr. Wood was educated in the Jackson County School system.

He retired in 1991 as a transport driver for the Carrier Corporation, a career that began in 1969.

He attended the Friendship Primitive Baptist Church at Defeated Creek.

Surviving in addition to his wife of almost sixty six years is their daughter Janet Wood Gregory and husband Ritchie of Westmoreland and a granddaughter, Katie Gregory of Bowling Green, Kentucky.
