The 2012-2013 RBS Junior High basketball season officially started last Thursday with the Lady Dawgs traveling to Smith County to take on the Lady Owls. During the first quarter, the Lady Owls put great pressure on the Lady Dawgs offensively and defensively, not allowing RBS to make a single basket.

During the 2nd quarter, Cayley Tuck put the Lady Dawgs on the board, making a two-point basket. Abby Tuck added two more points for the Lady Dawgs. At the end of the first half, the score was 16 to 4, in the Lady Owls’ favor.

During the third quarter, the Lady Dawgs just could not seem to gain any ground against the Lady Owls. Abby Tuck scored four more points for the Lady Dawgs. With the fourth quarter starting, this was the last chance for RBS. Cayley Tuck made another two foot jumper.

With three minutes left in the game, Shaylee Ellingson made a long three pointer to help RBS tighten the lead. As Smith County regained possession of the ball, Bailey Morgan stole the ball and took it down the court make a lay up. With less than one minute left on the clock, Cayley Gann also made two points with an assist from Cayley Tuck.

Despite all the hustle and determination of the Lady Dawgs, they just could not seem to pull out the win. The final score of the game was Smith Co. 30, RBS 17. Abby Tuck was high scorer for the Lady Dawgs with 6 points, Cayley Tuck with 4 points, Shaylee Ellingson with 3 points, and Bailey Morgan and Cayley Gann each with 2 points.
