Mrs. Lucille Matthews Dedmon of the Gladdice Community died at the home of her nephew in Hendersonville under the loving care of Alive Hospice. Mrs. Dedmon was pronounced dead at 5:20 a.m. Monday morning, October 15, 2012 at the age of 94.
Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Pro. Jeff Burton, at 11 AM Wednesday morning, October 17, from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Burial was by her first husband in the Witcher Cemetery in the Bagdad Community.
Born Delma Lucille Witcher in the Wartrace Community on March 3, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Melvin Harrison and Alta Nema Ray Witcher. Her first husband, Jackson County native Ventress Carl Matthews, died September 29, 1975 at the age of 60. On April 2, 1993 she was united in marriage to Elmwood Community native John Henry Dedmon who preceded her in death at the age of 91 on October 28, 2001. Mrs. Dedmon was employed at the Carthage Shirt Corporation for thirteen years at the Colonial in Gainsboro for eleven years before retiring and becoming a full time homemaker.
She was a member of the Wartrace United Methodist Church. Surviving is her sister, Anna P. Witcher Fenton of Hendersonville; two nephews who were her caregivers, Phillip Fenton and wife Karen and Robert Fenton, all of Hendersonville.
