Last Friday, the 2-2 Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs did battle against Tri-Cities. If defense wins championships, the Bulldogs looked like a state-winning team against Tri-Cities, completely dominating the ironically named Bulldogs of Tri-Cities in the 41-0 Homecoming victory, their first Homecoming victory in the past 15 years!

RBS came out with a fire in their bellies after suffering the heartbreaking loss to Clay County. Poor Tri-Cities just came to the wrong stadium on the wrong night. The Bulldogs first quarter had Ty Tuck scoring a 3 yard touchdown run, making it 6-0.

The rest of the first was quiet, but the second was an eruption for RBS. A.J. Dale ran in a 1 yard touchdown and converted the two point conversion, making it 14-0. Dale wasn’t down though. He went right back down the field and forced a safety! That made it 16-0. Later on in the second, Terrence Alexander ran in a 10 yard TD. RBS would not finish there. Ty Tuck would run in another TD run, making it 28-0 at the half!

In the third, RBS embarrassed Tri-Cities even more by adding on more points. C.J. Taylor would run in a score from 1 yard out, and RBS would run one more 20 yard run in for a score in the third, and that would finish off Tri-Cities 41-0!

Although the RBS offense was right on target, the defense was the main story of this game! RBS held Tri-Cities to 8 TOTAL yards, 2 first downs, and 3 turnovers in the first half! The second half was phenomenal as well, as Tri-Cities had 27 TOTAL yards, 1 first down, and 3 more turnovers. That’s a combined 35 TOTAL yards, 3 first downs, and 6 turnovers for the game!

After the game, Coach Shoulders said, with a huge smile of course, that his team played exceptionally well. “These are some resilient kids…they were inside the 10 yard line and fumbled, and the very next play or two they got a turnover” he said. He would also like to add that Defensive Coordinator Coach Stephenson has done “an absolutely excellent job preparing these boys.” I think the entire community can agree with that! Great job Coach Stephenson!

The Bulldogs next game will be against Gordonsville. This will not be an easy team to beat. This Gordonsville team has a good chance of being 1-A State Champions. They beat favorite 2-A State Champs Friendship Christian pretty badly. But that doesn’t mean the Bulldogs can’t win! These “underdogs” are coming off a blowout win on their Homecoming! Any momentum RBS has (along with all of you) needs to roll over to Gordonsville September 28th so the Dawgs can beat the Tigers and prove they are a powerhouse!
