Last Thursday, the Macon County High School Tigerette Volleyball Team took on long time district rival Greenbrier. Greenbrier looked like they were hungry for a victory, but the Tigerettes weren’t going to allow that on their home court! Macon County won all three games they played against Greenbrier! The first game they won 25-11, the second game was taken 25-9, and the Tigerettes finished them off in the third game 25-13.

Both teams played very good volleyball. Greenbrier had some great serves and some impressive spikes. They looked as though they were a vicious team. But Macon was far more vicious and ready to play than Greenbrier! Macon County fell behind only once in the three matches; that was at the beginning of the third game as Greenbrier went up 3-0 (that was quickly thwarted by the Tigerettes as they went on a 7 point streak).

Every Tigerette in the game contributed somehow. Morgan Wix led the way with 50 passes! Greenbrier had no answer for Kristyn Flippin when she went up for the spike, as she had 11 kills on 14 spikes. Emily Oyster also had a “spike”tacular game, having 7 kills on 9 spikes. Nicole Gann led the team with 3 digs and also had 2 aces. Audrey Reed also contributed well, blocking three Greenbrier spikes. Cassidy Baughn, however, had the MVP type performance. Cassidy had 16 spikes, 3 kills, 16 passes, 1 dig, 5 sets, 26 serves and 4 aces! Great job to every player on the Macon County Volleyball Team! Come out and support your Volleyball team as they take travel to Sycamore on September 6, and come watch the Tigerettes play other big district rival White House on September 11.
