Tilly Cryar has been named Editor of the Macon County Times, General Manager Chip Turner announced this week. A staff reporter with the paper since April of this year, she assumed her new role last Wednesday. Cryar will be filling the seat that former Times Editor Deidre Wilson resigned in June after giving birth to her first son.

Cryar is a Nashville transplant who has lived in Hartsville for two years. She earned a degree in Communications/Journalism from Lipscomb University in 2008 as a Presidential Scholar, and completed a year of graduate study in the Education Department at Cumberland University before returning to her pursuit of writing.

“We are very excited to have Tilly assume the position of editor of the Times,” Turner said. “She brings with her an abundance of enthusiasm and knowledge that will only further our endeavor to bring our readers the most comprehensive coverage possible of the happenings in Macon County.”

“I’m thrilled to be accepting this position,” said Cryar, “and excited to move forward with the paper in cementing the longstanding relationship that Macon Countians have with the Times. The people here have already made me feel like one of their own, and I will feel privileged to become a part of their lives in the coming years.”

Cryar will be making Lafayette her place of residence after her September wedding to Justin Dillehay, a Smith County local who is currently completing seminary studies in Louisville, KY.
