Over $1,200 worth of stolen goods were recovered recently by the Macon County Sheriff Department, and Albert Overstreet, 28, was arrested in connection with the thefts.

“Sgt. Mark Brawner of MCSD took a large theft report on July 8th,” said Det. Bryon Satterfield, “on several chain saws, weed eaters, a floor jack, and a lot of tools from a shop building located on Chicken Road here in the Lafayette. The next day I received information that several of the items could be found in Westmoreland, TN. At that time we did recover three chainsaws from the burglary.

“With further investigation, we were led into Allen County, Kentucky. Their detective was notified, and it was a joint investigation with Allen. The remainder of the property was recovered over the next several days from several locations in Allen County.

“During that investigation when we recovered the stolen property, Allen County Detective Chad Keene had reports of stolen items in his jurisdiction. They were linked also to Overstreet.

“Overstreet was taken in Kentucky. So he was charged there in Allen, and as soon as he was able to make Bond, we brought him back; he signed extradition and was brought back here to face charges on burglary and theft over $1,000 here.

Overstreet was charged with one count of theft of property and one count of burglary. A calf was among the variety of things Overstreet allegedly stole between the two states.
