The Tennessee Technological Center at Hartsville and the Tri-County Extension Campus in Red Boiling Springs was host to a Tri-County Professional Development Day on July 26. The day was focused on Career and Technical Training (CTE), and featured a host of speakers from TTU and TTC Hartsville, the TN Department of Education, the TN Board of Regents, and local educators.
Topics covered included “Technology to enhance Student Learning,” from Kristy Chaffin of Jackson County High School, “Common Core in CTE,” from Penney Ashe, CTE Licensure Consultant, “New Direction in Career-Technical Education,” from Susan Cowden, Director, to name just a few.
Attendees were mostly made up of educators from Macon and Jackson Counties; they were treated to a lunch at the Donoho Hotel to finish off the morning.
The Tri-County Extension in Red Boiling Springs offers courses in cosmetology, HVAC, culinary arts, welding, health science, and computer drafting.
