She was a lifelong resident of Lafayette until she had to enter assisted living.

Wilma was married to Truman Gregory, a local insurance agent, who predeceased her.

Her first career as a doctor’s nurse made her known and appreciated by many people in Lafayette. In late life, she returned to work in the Lafayette Post Office, where she enjoyed seeing and serving all of her customers.

Survivors include her sister, Myra Evetts of Lebanon, TN, daughters, Dinah Gregory and husband Jerome “Jay” Monk of Nashville, TN, and Samantha Moore and husband Jeffrey of Hermitage, TN, son, Jonathan Gregory, also of Hermitage, TN, beloved granddaughter, Emma Moore, and her nieces and nephews.

Her favorite obituary reveals her simple elegance, and she would like to be remembered by those same words. Simply: “She was.”
