A red Chevrolet pickup ran off the road and crashed into the front wall of a little stone cottage at 109 Meador Drive Thursday morning. The vehicle hit and uprooted the mailbox before traveling across the yard and hitting the exterior of the home on the left-hand side. The house was not greatly damaged.
The truck’s airbag deployed, and the engine was smoking visibly when Lafayette police officer Jeff Hix and several emergency units arrived on the scene.
“We could hear the crash all the way across the street in our little house when it happened,” said neighbor Charlie Brown.
Driver Ricky Cothron was placed in an ambulance because of what were believed to be minor injuries, likely caused by the airbag deploy, but it is unclear whether he was transported to any medical facility.
