The adorable but painfully shy Arlo the Snail returns to County libraries Thursday, June 21, and we’re betting Ventriloquist/Puppeteer Jill Thatcher can get him to overcome his fear of kids.
Besides Arlo, Jill’s hilarious puppet friends will include a surprising guest from the forest, an alien family that visits Jill and Rowdy, and Baby Night Night rounds out the cast. The show is full of reading adventures with fables and fairy tales that will enchant all ages.
Jill’s interest in puppetry and ventriloquism began at a small church in Tyler, Texas when a friend introduced her to the art form. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre with an emphasis on Children’s Theatre and Puppetry from West Virginia University.
Jill uses custom-made puppets performing her original scripts and songs to bring children messages of encouragement and teach them life skills, performing thousands of shows throughout the Mid-South and Mid-West.
The show is set for Red Boiling Springs Branch Library at 4 p.m. and Macon County Public Library at 6 p.m.
As with all Summer Reading and Listening Club events, Thursday’s program is free and open to the public.
