Robert Matthew “John” Teeples, age 86, of Celina, TN passed away on June 5th, 2012 due to complications of heart disease. After serving in the Navy in World War II, he graduated Tennessee Tech University with a degree in Biology. He was a retired teacher, coach, and principal with the Clay County School System. He was also a retired agent with State Farm Insurance. Over the years he served on various community boards and committees. He was a member of the Celina Lion’s Club and the American Legion. He was a former Clay County Commissioner and an active member of the Celina United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Ruth (Langford) Teeples; brothers Walter Sidwell and Pete Teeples and sister Jean Dillon. He is survived by his only son Dr. Pat Teeples of Crossville; Sister-in-law Mary Sue and husband Dave Stooksbury of Franklin; Sister-in-law Eddie Mae Williams of Glasgow, KY; Sister-in-law Fayne Teeples of Madison; and 8 nephews and 4 nieces.

Visitation will be from 4pm to 9pm Thursday, June 7th and prior to the funeral service at 11 Am on Friday June 8th both at the Celina United Methodist Church. Services will be officiated by Bro. Keith Long. Serving as pallbearers were Fred Melton, Gene Austin, James Holman, Doug Young, Earl Davis, Don Napier, Ronald Bailey, and Harold Watson. Honorary pallbearers will be former members of Coach Teeples athletic teams. Internment with be in the Fitzgerald Cemetery in Celina.
