Vassie Smith Brown Fleming, age 87 of the Milltown Community in Red Boiling Springs, TN passed away Friday afternoon, March 16, 2012 at The Palace in Red Boiling Springs. Funeral Services for Vassie Smith Brown Fleming were conducted Monday afternoon, March 19, 2012, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs with Jimmy Cook and Jack Honeycutt officiating. Interment followed in the Jenkins Cemetery. Her grandsons served as pallbearers.

Vassie was born Friday January 16, 1925 in Monroe County, KY, the daughter of the late Illow and Elizabeth Shaw Smith. In 1942, she married Emmitt Brown, who preceded her in death in 1943. On January 21, 1950, she married Andrew Veltra Fleming, who also preceded her in death on March 7, 1975. In addition to her husband’s and parents, she was also preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Daisy Fleming, sisters, Delma Spears, Della Denton, Irene Williams and Carmie Ford, and brothers, Webster and Dumas Smith. Vassie was a factory worker and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include: daughters & son-in-law, Neida & Jerry Dallas, Cynthia Smalling, sons & daughters-in-law, Doug & Mildred Fleming, Bobby Joe & Rita Fleming all of Red Boiling Springs, Terry & Sandra Fleming, Lafayette, sister, Ilean Cherry, Hermitage Springs, brothers & sisters-in-law, Dallas & Glenda Smith, Preston & Rita Smith all of Smiths Grove, KY, 10 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren.
