To honor our Veterans, Westside Elementary School held an assembly opened by Rob Ward, Cubscout Master for pack 76, and the school scouts who presented the American flag, held a moment of silence and led the pledge. Mr. Flynn welcomed everyone and recognized the Veterans attending the assembly. Students and visitors enjoyed a program featuring national war memorials, vintage military posters, military aircraft/watercraft, students patriotic art and photos of Westside family members who are veterans.

Prior to the day, faculty, staff and parents were asked to submit any photos of family members who were veterans to be featured in the program. The photos were used to create a dvd presentation set to a variety of patriotic music. Following the program, students took the opportunity to look at World War II and Vietnam War memorabilia loaned to the school by Henderson Mahaney and Ronald Jones.
